Why this name?
If you’re a GenX woman, you might know there’s a massive Facebook group with a similar name. When it first popped up as a suggestion, it was called GenX Women Are Sick of Your Shi*t. That spoke to my soul. Apparently, the group admins decided to tone things down because they changed it to something less accusatory. But the accusatory tone is totally my vibe and when I saw the OG domain selling for under $10, I snagged it.Why the asterisks?
Blame Google. To preserve any hope of people actually finding this site, I had to change tack.
What You Won’t Get Here
I’m not here to influence you into buying crap you don’t need. I won’t be showing off a curated home or a lifestyle of overconsumption with the intention of raking in affiliate cash. Travel photos? Nope! I’ve already been everywhere, and anywhere I’d want to go now has been overtaken by influencers and other bullsh*t I don’t have the spoons to deal with. I’ve enjoyed traveling but the hassle makes it vastly overrated. I’ve furnished my apartment slowly with thrift store finds and a lot of free stuff. Some of my clothes are 25+ years old, and all are at least secondhand, if not more. I’m the last person to tell you what to buy. What You Will Get Here
Ramblings. Observations. Snark. The unfiltered thoughts of a twice-divorced, GenX woman living her best slacker life with two cats in an awesome country that has “free” healthcare. I’ve got a lot to say, and I plan to say it here. Probably once a week. We’ll see how it goes. Sometimes, I’ll have something to b!tch about because the world is full of people doing profoundly stupid sh*t. Other times, I might share a peek into my life or my volunteer work. Expect some cool secondhand/curbside finds—it’s insane what people throw out around here! You might get some cheap recipes. Maybe some real talk on aging—like why filler is the absolute fvcking devil, and what you might want to do instead.
You’ll definitely get photos of my bonded pair of foster fails, The Edies (Big Edie and Little Edie, inspired by Grey Gardens). How fvcking cute are they?
As another gen x woman, I am going to be visiting and reading your ramblings and observations and of course the snarky ones too.
Awesome! Thank you 🙂
Hear hear! To not wasting money on things we don’t really need. Love the pic of the bonded pair. Very sweet.
Awww, thanks 🙂 They’re as sweet as they look, total lap cats and I adore them.
Love the name! I think its perfect! And yes! I agree – no curated homes, here’s to REAL life. Oh, and your kitties are just too cute!
Your blog sounds refreshing, especially the fact that you are not pushing products that we don’t need! Congrats on moving to Europe and living your dream life!
Add me too, I’m a gen x woman! LMBO at your stated: I’ll have something to b!tch about because the world is full of people doing profoundly stupid sh*t….ain’t that the truth!! I’m surely going to save your blog so I can come back and read your posts. Your cats are fricken adorable!
I am a Gen X and I loved reading this. I’m a mom to Millennials and Gen-Z 🙂
I’m Gen X and I’m definitely sick of everything!
I love the vibes here! So relatable these days.
I am a Gen X as well and absolutely enjoyed your post! I will be back for more and love your style! Very refreshing 😉
I am a later GenX myself and I had no idea about that Facebook group. I’d love to join, it’s so relatable!
